...and into Nebraska, another first time state for us.
We entered Nebraska on the southwestern edge just off the Kansas border. We were surprised by the amount of trees and rolling hills.
The land is very sandy and evidence of the drought is obvious. Numerous river and creek beds are dry as we saw throughout Wyoming and Colorado.
We were told that some of the old timers say this drought is worse than in the 30's.
We went shopping this morning and the wind is blowing out of the northwest at 50 miles per hour. The horizon is full of dust. Tomorrow the wind is still the same so we won't leave McCook, NE until Friday the 19th.
We chatted up some of the locals and they say it is always windy in Nebraska! Reminds us of the seasonal winds at Pincher Creek.
The wind is up again this morning and more fierce than yesterday.
We went out to the Verizon store and purchased a Jetpack (let's us go on the internet while we are mobile). Ate lunch out at the Loop Brewery and then visited the High Plains Museum.
