We stayed a total of 17 days in the Abilene area. We especially liked Abilene State Park with its large camping areas and walking trails. Deer abounded in this park and we were even fortunate to see a young buck one evening. And more fortunate to see a wild pig with four piglets. They can run mighty fast. Clark caught the blur of the last little piglet!
We met a couple from Plainview, Texas. Bob and Norma became our new camping friends for our stay in Abilene State Park and we followed them again to Hords Creek Lake Park near Coleman, Texas. We so enjoyed these new camping friends. We learned a couple of new games, Joker and a new version of Golf. Days with Bob and Norma made our stay most enjoyable.
We left the Abilene area on November 21st after wasting 8 days at the Ford dealership trying to get our motorhome fixed. We finally went to a Midas muffler guy in Abilene and he had a new muffler on in 2 hours. We gave Ford the benefit of the doubt when we first went to them because we didn't know exactly what was wrong with this rig. Ford's mechanic said it was the catalytic converter and so they ordered one but when the part finally arrived it was the wrong one. We gave up on Ford.
