Arizona - Gold Canyon to Cordes Junction

It was a big trip today.  All of 76 miles on multiple lane highways.
As we left the urban areas we started to climb and eventually reached 4000+ feet to our destination at Cordes Junction Motel and RV park just off highway 17 from Phoenix.
this overpass maze was only one of several that we came across

lots of haze on the horizon

the freeway speeds are only 65 mph but get on the two lane
highway and the speed increases to 75 mph

I was not in the fast lane!

dropping down into the Verde Valley

The temperature dropped also.  We only got to 68F for a high but it was a nice respite after a week of 90's and high 80 temps.

This motel and rv park has a diner attached to it.  The 50's Backseat Diner and Bar had 45's on the wall and 50's posters.  The food was also good.  We can stay here two nights on the Passport America rate of $14.50 per night with full hookups.
