view of the desert from Bill and Kerri's deck which faces to the west
The desert never keeps still. There are birds on the ground, on the fence line, in the trees and at the feeders and fountain. It is so much better than television. A bunny and a little rodent even made an appearance.
Gambel's quail and cactus
I so love these Gambel's quail with their forelock
House Finch
Lesser Goldfinch
I spotted something large moving quickly through the brush and over to the next door neighbors. It was a roadrunner coming for its nightly wieners!
this Roadrunner moved so quickly that this is the only pic I got of him
After we had polished off the pizza we adjourned to the patio to watch another desert sunset. It wasn't quite as spectacular as a previous night but still wonderful to behold.
The sky changes color so fast and then it is gone. Then come the stars. The desert cools off at night quite quickly once the sun goes down. It is very refreshing after the heat of the day. We have been experiencing high 80's and into the 90's. I wouldn't want to be here in the summer when it hits triple digits.
