We arrived at Falcon State Park, ate lunch, had a nap and then set up our bird feeders hoping for some visitors. We heard a lot of bird song and saw birds on the wing but we wanted them to come to our feeder.

the corn is attached to a bungee so the squirrels have to work for the corn! |
Lo and behold out of the bush we got our first camp visitors - Javelinas. There were nine in the group - four young ones and five adults.

sniffing around for food |
|
caught the scent of bird seed on the ground |
|
they ate every single kernel |

I did have a feeder hanging in the tree but the patriarch
stood on his hind legs, jumped and snagged the feeder |
|
now we have to buy more bird seed |

These javelinas remained at our campsite for half an hour or more. They didn't spot the bungee corn which I am glad about. We have since taken the corn down as the javelinas are night time wanderers.
Javelinas as much as they look like pigs are not pigs. In fact they are members of the hippo family.
Tomorrow we hope to see some birds and get some good photos.
